Lisbon has an efficient metro system in place hence getting around the city is very convenient. It is good to have an idea of all these details as you plan your Lisbon vacation.
The metro system boasts of four well established lines(A-D) than run between 0630 and 0100 almost every three to ten minutes with more lines being planned in the near future. Ticket prices are affordable, one day and seven day passes are available. Single tickets and carnets may be obtained from self service machines at ticket stations and passes at special stations like Campo Grande, Oriente etc.
The city has an excellent network of buses, trams and elevators run by the Carris company. Bus and tram services generally are between 0630 and 0100 but there are also eight night bus routes. Passes are available for four days and seven days.
If you want to have a jolly ride on the Tagus river it is good to know that Tagus ferries are run by Transtejo and the places of arrival are Belem, Cais de Sodre and Terreiro do Paco. You can use this service while traveling to the Belem tower or some other Lisbon attraction. Also note that Portugese railways runs a ferry link from Barreiro to Praco do Commercio wherein the fare is included in the rail fare.
Taxis are another common form of transport, they can be hailed on the streets or by phone. Taxis are metered, minimum charge is 1Euro, fares increase after 2200 at night, flag fare is 1.5 Euro during the day and 2 Euro during the night.
If you are looking for a multilingual driver and a Limousine service you can get one at UNILIS. The charge is nearly 250 Euros excluding toll charges, drivers meal, extra mileage etc.
If you are planning to drive around yourself, remember. It may be maddening at peak hours between 1700 and 1900, and even otherwise average speed is high and one may feel that road signs are not sufficient.

Walking tours are not currently available but it is a good idea to have a stroll around Lisbon’s unique towns like Bairo Alto and Alfama.

Tram tours take one and half hours to visit the important Lisbon sights. Transtejo offers a variety of boat tours also. So remember there is not just lots to visit at Lisbon there are lots of ways of doing so.
